Loftleidir Icelandic and AWAS Co-operation
In a ceremony today, Charles Graham, Chief Executive Officer of AWAS, one of the world's leading aircraft lessors, and Sigurdur Helgason, President and CEO of Icelandair, the flag carrier of Iceland, signed a cooperative agreement to supply integrated wet lease solutions to the global aviation industry.
The agreement will see AWAS provide B757 and B767 aircraft that Icelandair will operate (including provision of crew and maintenance) on a wet lease basis to customers who are seeking the numerous benefits that a comprehensive "turnkey" service package such as wet leasing can bring.
Speaking at the launch AWAS CEO Mr Graham stated: "This agreement between two long established and vastly experienced players in the operating lease and wet lease industries respectively will deliver a wider range of wet-lease options to airlines around the world. Icelandair and AWAS are both market leaders and innovators, and this agreement combines those strengths to create new possibilities for our customers".
Sigthor Einarsson, President of Loftleidir Icelandic ehf noted: "Customers win both ways, they gain access to the availability of the large and modern AWAS fleet of B757 and B767 aircraft, and Icelandair's low cost structure and outstanding reliability and reputation. Together we can offer the airlines and other customers a whole new range of wet lease opportunities".
